Inside Linebackers

Image
The quarterbacks of the defense, or more commonly, the inside linebackers. ILBs are the middle of the defense, having to know how to rush the passer, play the run, and cover during passing downs. Being an ILB isn't easy, and it's a position the Giants have struggled with in the past. However, this past year was the group's best I've seen in a while. They are a great young group of 3 guys and they will continue to grow for next season.

Defensive Line: Defensive Ends and Outside Linebackers

Image
We've covered the interior of the defensive line, however that isn't all that goes into a front seven. Next we have the outside of the defensive line which includes defensive ends and outside linebackers, otherwise known as edge rushers. They are called edge rushers due to the fact they normally play on the edge of the line and rush at the QB. The Giants have a nice group of young talent on the outside so this will be a fun topic to cover.

Defensive Line: Interior

Image
The interior of the defensive line is where your biggest and strongest lineman go. The guys who tower over the rest in stature and power. Underlooked by some, this is a position you should never overlook because they can make a QB's life very horrible. Luckily for the men in blue, they have one of, arguably the best interior defenders in the league right now, and this post will cover a lot about him.

Free Agency Review

Image
Welcome to the Big Blue Spotlight free agency review for the first part of free agency of the NFL offseason. This may be one of multiple entries if the Giants make any more splashes but for now, this is the only one. Alright, enough wasting time, let's start off with the free agency losses.

Safety

Image
The Safety, the last line of defense if you will. As the years have gone on, it feels like the safety position has decreased in the amount of quality safeties there are. I personally only have a few safeties in the league ranked at an elite level and after that, a lot of safeties are just good. Today I'll be going over the few safeties the Giants have on the roster, however, I'll be starting with one of their most recent losses.

Tight Ends

Image
Last but certainly not least we have the tight end position. You're favorite team's safety net if you will. When you need a quick 5-yard gain, they are your man. They go out for contested catches, block for your running back, and do almost everything a player can do on offense other than throw the ball. Tight Ends have made a slow shift over the years from being primary run blockers and third-down threats to being oversized wide receivers. Players like Travis Kelce, George Kittle, and Mark Andrews show this immensely. Most top tight ends nowadays are used very heavily in the passing game, and it become almost essential to any team. Today we'll take a look at the Giant's two TEs and any possible additions they can make.

Offensive Line

Image
Nothing screams football more than the offensive line. Five big players constantly clash with an opposing defense to clear a path for a running back or give a quarter-back time to throw. The O-line is about overpowering and manipulating a defensive line to benefit the offense. No team can survive with a below-average offensive line, as showcased in Super Bowl 55 where the Kansas City Chiefs offensive line was depleted and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers made Patrick Mahomes very uncomfortable. The Giants have struggled in this department for the past 10+ years after winning Super Bowl 46 over the New England Patriots. However, due to the sheer amount of players on the offensive line, I'm going to quickly go over the starting five and then dive into 3 specific players.
