Safety

Image
The Safety, the last line of defense if you will. As the years have gone on, it feels like the safety position has decreased in the amount of quality safeties there are. I personally only have a few safeties in the league ranked at an elite level and after that, a lot of safeties are just good. Today I'll be going over the few safeties the Giants have on the roster, however, I'll be starting with one of their most recent losses.

Tight Ends

Image
Last but certainly not least we have the tight end position. You're favorite team's safety net if you will. When you need a quick 5-yard gain, they are your man. They go out for contested catches, block for your running back, and do almost everything a player can do on offense other than throw the ball. Tight Ends have made a slow shift over the years from being primary run blockers and third-down threats to being oversized wide receivers. Players like Travis Kelce, George Kittle, and Mark Andrews show this immensely. Most top tight ends nowadays are used very heavily in the passing game, and it become almost essential to any team. Today we'll take a look at the Giant's two TEs and any possible additions they can make.

Offensive Line

Image
Nothing screams football more than the offensive line. Five big players constantly clash with an opposing defense to clear a path for a running back or give a quarter-back time to throw. The O-line is about overpowering and manipulating a defensive line to benefit the offense. No team can survive with a below-average offensive line, as showcased in Super Bowl 55 where the Kansas City Chiefs offensive line was depleted and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers made Patrick Mahomes very uncomfortable. The Giants have struggled in this department for the past 10+ years after winning Super Bowl 46 over the New England Patriots. However, due to the sheer amount of players on the offensive line, I'm going to quickly go over the starting five and then dive into 3 specific players.

Wide Receiver

Image
The Wide Receiver, the playmakers of the offense, the guys who gain chunk yardage. Wide Receivers are everywhere nowadays, with plenty of quality receivers coming out of college every year. Just this past year we saw rookies like Puka Nacua and Tank Dell put up great numbers despite being rookies. Similar things have happened in the past few years with players like Justin Jefferson and Jamaar Chase. These pass catchers are essential for any offense to function. Recently the Giants have struggled in this department but it seems this group is on the rise. Let's take a dive into a WR group with no clear dominant X receiver.

Running Back

Image
The Running Back, some would call them the "workhorse" of the offense. When you need a go-to on first down, they are the player you go to, or at least they were. Over the last half-decade, the value of the running back position has changed immensely. Going from a very valued position to now a position that is easily replaceable in executives' eyes. The Giants went through this issue last year with Star RB Saquon Barkley. Saquon was coming off his best year in recent memory but the Giants didn't want to pay him what he was asking for and thus gave him the franchise tag. Other running backs in the league were given the same thing, but this won't be about them, this is about the Giants' running back room.

Quarterbacks

Image
There is one position in football that makes the most money and is considered the most important, and that position is the Quarterback. The captain of the offense is vital in the construction of any football team. Without a quarterback, the offense cannot function. Today I'll be diving into the New York Giants quarterbacks from the 2023-24 season as well as the future of the position for the team.     Let's start off with the man who was given an extension in the offseason, Daniel Jones(pictured below). Daniel Jones has been with the Giants since 2019 when he was drafted by the New York team. He sat behind Giants legend Eli Manning for a few games and then he snagged the starting job and hasn't lost it since. Jones has had a bumpy road with the Giants that includes turnover issues, a playoff birth and win, and then another bad season. Jones was sidelined early in the year with a neck injury in week 5, which kept him out until week 9 against the Raiders. Un...

Intro Post

Hello everyone, this will be my second ever blog as well as my second blog about football. Last time I made a blog just rounding up the performances of every team in the NFC East Biweekly, this time I will instead being going in depth on each position group of my favorite team, the New York Giants. What that entails is a wrap up of the play of that position throughout the past NFL season, contracts and stats, and then a look at the future of said position for the Giants. The first post will be about the QB position and will be posted in a couple of days. I hope you all enjoy
